Why the low front matters

A bolster is not decoration. Dogs sleep curled with their chin raised, and a raised edge gives them something to rest it against. But a tall edge on all four sides becomes a wall, and for a dog with short legs, an older dog, or a dog recovering from something, a wall is the difference between using the bed and sleeping on the floor beside it.

The Divine keeps the bolster on the sides and back and drops it at the front. They get something to lean into and a doorway to walk through.

A bed you can leave out

The reason this one costs what it costs is that it was designed to be seen. Hello Doggie describes the fabric as “the softest, most luxurious high-end fabric”, and the six colors are quiet ones. Put it beside the sofa and it reads as part of the room.

Who it is for

The dog who sleeps where you sit. If your dog has decided the sofa is theirs, this gives them their own version of it, close enough to stay in the room with you.

The evening you go out. Getting ready to leave is easier when there is somewhere they already want to be. The bed goes wherever you want them to settle, by the door or out of the way of the hallway.

Quiet evenings in. At 3 lb you can move it to whichever room you are in, so they are beside you for the film rather than shut in another room.

Small dogs with opinions. Yorkies, Chihuahuas, Maltese, Pomeranians and Shih Tzus all fit the 16 by 19 inch footprint. The bolster gives them a wall to press into, which is how most small dogs prefer to sleep.

Older dogs. A dog who has stopped jumping will still use a bed they can step into at floor level. That is the whole point of the scooped front.

Living with it

Machine wash in cold water with mild detergent on a delicate cycle, then air dry or air fluff with no heat. Hello Doggie also recommends dry cleaning for the best result. At 3 lb it is light enough to shake out and carry to the machine without turning it into a job.

Making sure they fit

Measure your dog lying down, nose to tail, while they are actually asleep, curled rather than stretched. That curled length is the number that matters.
